Being overweight is not a pleasant experience, no one actually sets out to become obese on purpose. The old saying that we are what we eat is true. So, if we consume a lot of fats and sugars without burning them off, then we will see our weight increase.
The availability of food is also a problem, as it means we no longer have to go days without food, we can eat something every few hours.
Another problem is that the food industry has a habit of putting additional fat, sugar and salt in our food, all of these cause health problems unless taken in moderation.
The health problems caused by obesity are wide and varied. One of the worst ones that can affect a person is type II diabetes. Under medical supervision, this condition can be managed, and unlike type I, it can be reversed if acted upon quickly.
However, if it is allowed to progress, then the complications associated with type I are the same for type II, and these can be life threatening. This is why it is important to take action as soon as possible when you become aware that you are gaining weight. Being proactive early on makes weight loss much easier, and keeps the health problems at bay.
Another health issue that are associated with carrying extra weight is heart disease. People who carry additional fat over the long term are more likely to die from a heart problem than any other illness. There are a few reasons why the heart suffers.
One of them is that the bigger a person gets, the more the blood needs to be forced around the body, and this can strain the heart. It is not unknown for overweight people to have an enlarged heart. Another problem with the heart is that the fat which floats around in the blood can stick to the walls of the arteries and veins. Eventually, this may reach a critical point and cause a blockage, which results in a heart attack.
Breathing can be a major problem for the morbidly obese, as having to move fat laden lungs, ribs and breasts can be a huge strain, so they can suffer asthma like symptoms.
People who strain to breath also put a lot of stress on the heart, another complication on top of everything else.
Heavier people also suffer from high blood pressure. Although everyone has fluctuating blood pressure, depending on what it is that they are doing, obese people have it all the time. This puts additional strain on blood vessels, and eventually some will burst. In most cases, this is nothing more than a small internal bleed, which rarely becomes serious.
However, if it happens in the brain, then this is referred to as a stroke, and it can be devastating, even life threatening. On top of all this, blood flow to the extremities will reduce, and that means problems with the hands and feet. It can result in strange tingling sensations, and in some cases, fingers and toes can lose the blood supply altogether, and loss of them can result.
A person’s eyes can also become an issue. Fat deposits can build up in the eye, and this in turn leads to various conditions that affect the eyesight. If left untreated for a long period of time, it can result in a loss of vision. For those people who are so obese that they have flaps of skin overlapping each other, unless cleaned properly, these areas can become infected. Obese people tend to have a low immune system, and so this condition can be hard to take care of.
All of these problems can be avoided by simply losing weight. Easier said than done for most people, but that is the simple answer.
Many people will turn to supplements to try and help them lose weight, but regardless of what one is used, they should still be taken along with a good diet and regular exercise.
Some people will take HGH, which is human growth hormone. This is a natural hormone produced by our body during the years that we grow. Although still produced after our teens, it is in low amounts. Research on HGH is mixed though.
How much weight can you lose on HGH? One report says that it can reduce weight by around 8%, while many others say that it is less than 1%. HGH also has a number of side effects, and the possible gains, alongside the negatives, may not be worth it for most people.
A brisk walk a day, and lots of sugar free liquid can help to reduce weight. Remember, weight loss does not happen overnight, it can take a few months to see meaningful results.
